Scott Lytle

Scott Lytle was born and
raised in Seattle, attended the Bush School and the University of Washington, and graduated with a BFA in Jazz Piano from Cornish College of the Arts.  His lifelong interest in music started when he began playing the cello at age 8. He has been fortunate to study piano with Marc Seals and Jerry Grey, and cello with Toby Saks, Eric Jensen and Roberta Downy. He currently performs as a pianist with Jay Thomas and his Stimulus Package Big Band. He also plays cello in a chamber music trio with Jay and Nathaniel Schleimer.

Scott has worked with
Jay Thomas and Ensemble III since 2005. Says Scott, “I share the philosophy of lifelong learning and self-teaching with instructors Acox, Thomas, [Marcus] Tsutakawa, and [Carol] Burton. Working with Jazz III has given me much, including a refinement and expansion of teaching techniques in sound, swing and improvisation, in addition to a moderate ability on upright bass.”
