On December 3, Jazz Band II played in the Center House at Seattle Center as part of Winterfest. The Center House, despite being in the middle of a remodel, was festive and beautifully decorated for the season. While much of the audience was made up of family and friends, those who wandered in for food, a warm drink, or to see the model train display were also treated to a wonderful concert.
The band played for an hour, with a program ranging from old standards, such as “I Remember You,” and “Again and Again,” to new takes on well-known songs, such as “Here, There, and Everywhere,” and Christmas songs, such as “Feliz Navidad” and “Christmastime is Here,” which was accompanied by a beautiful vocal by Clarissa Thompson.
There were also several great soloists: Derek Billey (alto saxophone), Fiona Boardman (trombone), Lila Brandt (trombone), Adam Ellner (drums), Charlie Feig (trumpet), Quinn Frantzen (drums), Emma Krontz (alto saxophone), Alice Mar-Abe (piano), Patrick Mogan (trumpet), Taylor Russell (tenor saxophone), and Isak Washburn-Gaines (tenor saxophone).
