2011 LIONEL HAMPTON JAZZ FESTIVAL, Moscow Idaho

 

Congratulations to Garfield Vocal Jazz and Jazz Bands!!!

Jazz I gave an outstanding performance on Saturday and received high praise from the adjudicators as well obtaining the highest score in their category. 

Jazz I soloists who were honored by an invitation to play in the intimate setting of "Hamp's Club" included Gus Comstock, drums, Ian Frost, soprano saxophone, Adam Stansell, piano, Emmitt Akeley, guitar, Ian Zapolsky, piano, and Willem de Koch, trombone.

Saturday evening, Jazz II was honored on the Mainstage in their division and performing No Pain, No Gain by Lennie Neihaus.

Friday evening, Garfield Vocal Jazz was honored on the Mainstage in their division. Their performance of Blues for Stephanie was amazing and they enlisted a five-piece combo from Garfield Jazz Band including Willem de Koch on trombone, Derek Gamlam on piano, Jake Kennelly on guitar, Quinn Frantzen on drums and Rebecca Lawrence on bass which added a wonderful element to their program. Soloists, Lucy Saether and Otienno Steven-Terry won top honors and performed individually at “Hamp’s Club” later that evening.
