Welcome to a brand new year of Garfield Jazz. Hopefully most of you were able to make it to the Picnic on Sept 11th but for those who didn't, here is a recap:
We have almost a completely new board this year: Nicole Gamlam: President, Laurie de Koch: Vice-President (returning), Neal Thompson: Treasurer, Nancy Eiselt: Secretary.
Our monthly meetings will occur on the first Monday of the month from 7-8pm in the band room. Once or twice a year it may be postponed due to Winter break or another event. The calendar is now up - so please check it and this website often for updates. The first meeting is Monday, October 3rd.
The roster is now complete so if you are not receiving emails, please let us know asap as this is the direct method of communication. The next email coming out is about the upcoming fundraiser/dance party for Garfield Jazz that Rolling Retreads hosts on Sept 24th (see link on home page). Rolling Retreads is made up of current and alumni jazz parents and they really rock - don't miss it!
Poinsettia fundraiser info was distributed and is due Nov 4th. The goal is a minimum of 10 plants at $15 each per student. This is a very popular fundraiser for us and many look forward to receiving their yearly Garfield poinsettia.
We had sign up sheets for volunteers and can use anyone no matter how small an amount of time you have. We have many opportunities that may involve only making a few phone calls, filling out a spreadsheet, or baking goods for concerts. Please let us know if you can help in any way.
