Garfield Jazz Band Places First at the 50th Anniversary of the Clark College Jazz Festival

Garfield competed in the AAAA division and played 3 tunes which led to qualifying for the finals in addition to Puyallup High School and Battle Ground High. We played last out of the 3 bands in our division and placed first. We were hoping for the Sweepstakes trophy but were beat out by Mountain View High who played superbly in the AAA division. This was the first time the local high school had won in 25 years so the mood leaving the Festival was very upbeat. In addition, only 2 outstanding musician awards were given for the entire evening and one was awarded to our own Cameron Vohr! Congrats Cameron!

Garfield Jazz Band I will move on to compete at the Bellevue College Big Band Festival this coming Saturday, Feb 4th with Bands II and III competing on Friday, Feb 3rd at the Viking Jazz Festival in Poulsbo.

Come join us for either Festival.
