About Bellevue High School Jazz Festival: The Bellevue High Jazz Festival has been going strong for 43 years. Featuring middle, junior, and high school bands from across the country, the Bellevue High Jazz Festival is one of the premiere festivals in the Pacific Northwest. Schools compete in divisions to be placed first, second, and third. At the end of the festival, only one band is awarded the coveted Sweepstakes Trophy, distinguishing that middle, junior, or high school band as the best of the best.

Thursday May 8th / Garfield Jazz Ensemble 1 will be performing in Round 1 of the competition in the Appel Room.
Saturday May 10th / Top 10 bands will play in Round 2 at the Rose Theatre
Sunday May 11th / Only the top 3 bands will play at the Metropolitan Opera.

About the Essentially Ellington: The annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Festival is one of the most innovative jazz education events in the world. Each year, high school musicians from across North America travel to New York City to spend three days immersed in workshops, jam sessions, rehearsals and performance at the “House of Swing,” Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Jazz 2 at Black & Tan Hall
Garfield’s award-winning Jazz 2 ensemble showcases a year of hard work and rocks the house with a repertoire spanning from Count Basie to Quincy Jones. Recent performances include Mt. Hood Jazz Festival and Bellevue High Jazz Festival.

About Mt. Hood Jazz Festival: Launched in 1982 by MHCC in collaboration with the City of Gresham and the Mt. Hood Jazz Association, the festival once drew crowds of 30,000. Performers included Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, Tito Puente, Arturo Sandoval, and B.B. King, marking Rosemary Clooney's last live performance. In 2019, MHCC acquired the festival name rights and, with community support, relaunched it as a livestreaming event in 2021, engaging over 2,000 viewers globally.
